Colucci's reluctant Elefanti exit

AD 1 07/25/2008

Catania midfielder Giuseppe Colucci is devastated that the Elefanti plan to sell him and has hinted that he will be wearing a Lecce shirt next term.

A solid performer, Colucci had been hoping to start his third season at the Stadio Massimino, but he has been told that he doesn’t feature in Coach Walter Zenga’s plans.

The 27-year-old didn’t take part in last night’s friendly win over Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv and is already thinking about his next move.

“The club have decided to sell me and I think I will change clubs before September,” Colucci told Itasportpress.it.

“I respect the decision, but as long as I am here I will give my all for the fans and my teammates.

“I have to confess that I am really sad to be leaving this city. I have heard that Lecce are interested as well as three other Serie A sides.

“My regret at Catania is that I hardly ever got to play in my favoured position where I have done the best things in my career.”
