Amauri: “Palermo is a wonderful place, I will always be grateful to these people”
Despite the rumours about Amauri’s transfer to Juventus, the Brazilian player isn’t sure his experience in Palermo has already ended and isn’t living the match against Sampdoria like a goodbye to his supporters.“Sunday’s match will certainly be the last one at home, so we’ll try to play well. Maybe this game will also be my last at the ‘Barbera’ pitch as a Palermo player, but I’m still not sure. These rumours obviously please me but now I only want to think about the last two matches, then we’ll see. I want to close the season giving my best on the pitch, as I did in the last thirty-two matches, without having any particular goals to reach”. Anyway, Amauri is one of Palermo top-scorers, reaching Dante Di Maso, who is in the second place in Palermo’s history Now I feel stronger and more mature compared to the past and I brilliantly left behind the difficult days of the injury. But I have one regret: I didn’t manage to bring the team to Champions League. The project that concerned me began last season, if we played in the most important European competition, maybe today the team would be stronger and I wouldn’t have leave. I have always had the ambition to play in an important club, but I have never said that I necessarily wanted to leave. If in the next two weeks Zamparini should decide to let me stay, I would be happy, because my family and I like living here. Otherwise, if I leave, I hope Palermo always does and I will always support them”. Even if in July Amauri moves to another team, he won’t certainly forget about the Palermitani. “Palermo and Palermo football club have given me a lot. They have always been wonderful with me, giving me warmth, and I only hope I repaid them well. Palermo is an incredible place and, those who refuse it, miss out on unique emotions and experiences”. |
